Cookie Policy

This page explains the cookies, storage and analytics we use, why each one is there, and how you can change your choice.

What cookies are

Cookies are small files a site stores in your browser to remember things between page loads. Modern sites also use localStorage and sessionStorage for the same purpose. We treat them the same way for the purposes of this policy.

Strictly necessary (no consent needed)

These are needed for the site to work and are set without asking. We use the minimum required:

• gmluk-cookie-consent (localStorage) — remembers your cookie banner choice so we do not ask again on every visit.

• Cloudflare bot-protection cookies (cf_clearance, __cf_bm) — set by Cloudflare to keep the site reachable and to filter bot traffic.

• Cloudflare Turnstile — used on contact, quote, sample and calculator forms to prevent spam submissions. Turnstile may set short-lived tokens during the challenge but does not track you across sites.

Anonymous analytics (no consent needed)

From page load we run PostHog (hosted in the EU) in memory-only mode. In this mode PostHog does not set any cookie or write to localStorage on your device — it sends anonymous page-view counts and JavaScript error reports to our analytics server with a per-visit ID that disappears when you close the tab. Because nothing is stored on your device, no PECR cookie consent is required for this surface. We use it to understand which pages help and to catch site errors quickly.

You can object to this processing at any time under UK GDPR by emailing hello@gmluk.com.

Analytics (with consent)

If you accept the Analytics category in the cookie banner, PostHog upgrades to persistent storage so we can:

• recognise return visits across sessions

• capture which buttons, links and form fields people use

• record sessions to help us improve confusing journeys

When this is on, PostHog sets a cookie and a localStorage entry to hold a stable, pseudonymous distinct ID. You can turn this off any time by re-opening the cookie banner from the Manage option below, or by clearing site data for gmluk.com.

Advertising (with consent, when enabled)

We do not currently run any advertising tags. The cookie banner offers an Advertising toggle so that when we start using Google Ads measurement or similar tools to understand which campaigns work, those tools only load for visitors who have opted in. No advertising cookies are set until you accept this category and we add the tag.

Changing your choice

Reopen the banner by clearing the gmluk-cookie-consent entry in your browser site data, or by clearing site data for gmluk.com in your browser settings. The banner will reappear on your next visit so you can re-choose.

Third-party embeds

Some pages embed maps from Google and videos from YouTube (privacy-enhanced nocookie mode). These set their own cookies if you interact with them. We use facade patterns where possible so nothing is loaded from those providers until you click play or interact with the map.
