Paper Slitting
Roll-to-roll slitting at custom widths, for packaging machinery, dispenser systems, converting operations and resale through trade channels.
GMLUK provides paper slitting for merchants, converters, packaging suppliers, food packaging distributors and manufacturers who need wide reels converted into narrower rolls.
Slitting is essential when a paper needs to run through machinery, dispensers, form-fill systems, counter rolls or industrial processes at a specific width. Instead of adapting your process around standard roll sizes, we convert suitable paper into reel widths that match the job.
We can slit papers manufactured by GMLUK and, where suitable, offer contract slitting for customer-supplied stock.
What is paper slitting?
Paper slitting is the process of cutting a wide master reel into narrower reels. The finished rolls are wound onto cores and supplied to the width, roll length and packing format required.
It is used when sheets are not the best format and the customer needs continuous material on a reel. This is common in packaging production, food wrapping, industrial interleaving, form-fill applications, label and adhesive processes, and trade supply.
Why slitting is useful
Slitting lets customers buy or manufacture paper efficiently in wider reels, then convert it into the exact widths required for production or resale. For merchants and resellers, it allows non-standard reel widths to be supplied without holding every possible width in stock. For manufacturers, it helps ensure paper arrives ready to run through machinery, reducing handling, downtime and waste.
Who uses our slitting service?

Adhesive tape and label businesses using release papers

Slitting and custom print
Slitting can be combined with custom flexographic printing where a customer needs branded paper on a reel. This is useful for food wrapping, retail packaging, waxed papers, printed greaseproof reels, branded interleaving or specialist packaging processes. Artwork, repeat length, reel width and downstream use should be considered together.
