What is release paper?
Release paper is paper coated on one or both sides with silicone (or alternative release agent) to provide a low-adhesion surface that allows sticky materials — adhesives, tapes, gaskets, food coatings — to be peeled away cleanly without transfer or fibre pickup. The release paper itself remains intact and the released material is undamaged.
What is the difference between release paper and interleaving paper?
Interleaving paper sits *between* product layers and may or may not have a release coating. Release paper specifically has a silicone or alternative release agent applied. Many interleaving applications use release paper (e.g. bacon between silicone-coated greaseproof) but not all release applications are interleaving (e.g. self-adhesive tape liner).
Can release paper be recycled?
Silicone-coated release paper is harder to recycle than uncoated paper. Many UK paper mills won't accept silicone-coated paper into pulping because the silicone affects pulp quality. We provide EPR classification per grade so you can model end-of-life accurately. For recyclable-priority applications, we offer alternative release coatings — talk to us about options.
Do you make double-sided release paper?
Yes — single-sided and double-sided silicone-coated release paper are both available. Double-sided is used where adhesive needs to release from both faces (e.g. transfer tape, two-sided self-adhesive applications). Coating weight can be tuned per side to provide differential release values for controlled peel sequences.
What is the minimum order for custom release paper?
Stock release liner has no minimum. Custom-cut sheets and slit reels from 1 pallet. Custom silicone coating weights or substrate combinations from 1 tonne. Die-cut release paper shapes (discs, rings, custom geometries up to 500mm diameter) from 50,000 units.
